Welcome to Grindhaus Brew Lab

Grindhaus Brew Lab is a movie-themed boutique brewery tucked away in an unassuming industrial complex in unincorporated Pinellas County, Florida. Owned and operated by local residents Robb Larson and Lisa Colburn, this Clearwater staple is a true passion project. The couple has lived just over a mile from the brewery for 20 years, dedicating themselves to keeping their business small, independent, and deeply rooted in the community. Whether Robb is brewing or Lisa is managing the tasting room, you are guaranteed to find one of them behind the bar personally pouring your beer.

Our Evolution & Expertise

The business originally launched in 2015 as HiFi Homebrew and BBQ Supply, with the brewery added in late 2016. During the 2020 pandemic shutdown, the couple pivoted by expanding their taproom and shifting away from retail supplies to focus entirely on brewing. This evolution naturally blended their decades of industry experience. Robb first mastered his craft at Mankato State University in the mid-1990s and later trained in the brewing arts at Chicago’s Siebel Institute, while serving as a pilot brewer for a prominent regional brewery in Tampa, before launching Grindhaus. Lisa is also influential in the beer community, having founded the Tampa branch of the Bay Area Barley’s Angels—a premier craft beer educational organization for women that has helped launch numerous personal and professional brewing careers.

The Beer & The Experience

At Grindhaus, every beer is hand-crafted in ultra-small, one-barrel or smaller batches using fresh, premium ingredients. This boutique production size ensures that every single keg is unique and served at peak freshness. The tap list features a diverse and rotating lineup of classic styles, rotating seasonals, crisp seltzers, and tart sours, with highly anticipated weekly releases tapping every Friday afternoon. Beyond the exceptional craft beer, Grindhaus offers a nostalgic community experience every Saturday night, when the brewhouse transforms into a cinema, inviting guests to enjoy an intimate movie screening on a 135-inch screen, complete with complimentary fresh, hot popcorn.
